Second 'Meet the Residents Event' - 5th September 2015

Plan of events at Piltdown Golf Club:

4pm     Golf games on the first three holes of the course being organised for the children by Piltdown Golf Club.

5pm     Tea available to purchase (at a special rate) from 5pm.

6pm     The adult part of the event starts

               Bar open for drinks

Peter Sebry to give opening address to include explanation of what projects we want to undertake and why we need funds.

Tombola will be available  and Auction will be conducted by Peter Ross.

Meet The Residents Becomes Annual Event


We're delighted to confirm that our Meet The Residents evening will become an annual event in future.  Details will be announced late spring 2015. 

We will start at 4:00pm to encourage residents with young children to join us where the golf club will be organising a fun golf competition ( nothing serious) at the practice area followed by afternoon tea and cakes, the afternoon will continue into the evening.

There is no fixed time for arriving however we will be closing the doors at 8:30pm 






Fantastic Support For First Piltdown ‘Meet The Residents’ Event

Over 110 Piltdown residents enjoyed the first ever ‘Meet The Residents’ event on Friday 22nd August 2014 at Piltdown Golf Club.  Organised by the Piltdown Residents Association, the evening gave villagers the opportunity to meet friends both old and new and also to raise funds.

Major attraction of the evening was an auction of three special experiences, all donated by local residents.  These comprised: a two-hour luxury motor cruise from Eastbourne to Beachy Head and the Sovereign Lighthouse; a gliding lesson and a hot air balloon flight.

A prize raffle was also launched at the event, with a range of fantastic prizes donated by local businesses and residents with tickets on sale until 27th September.  Over £700 was raised during the evening from the auction and raffle ticket sales.  The event was declared a huge success by all attending so the organisers have decided it will become an annual event.

When asked why the need to raise funds Bob White, Chairman of the Residents Association, explained: “The funds are required for projects to improve the environment for all villagers.  We have made many applications for funding from various bodies without success so this event was our first to raise funds.  We’re focussing on five projects initially: litter and fly tipping; speed limit reduction to improve road safety; landscaping and flooding.  We’ve already been successful with one of our projects and have stopped persistent parking in the lay-by opposite Piltdown Garage.  There is obviously a cost to most of these projects and some of them only attract matched funding from East Sussex County Council, so as a newly formed association we will have more fund raising to do.  We’ve had a fantastic response from villagers and local businesses in terms of interest, attendance and contributions to our fund via the auction and raffle, which will enable us to make a difference to the village.”  In summing up he added: “You could say we’re creating our own ‘Big Society’ in Piltdown.”
